Taking off Time and Making Changes

So, I ended up taking a few weeks off from posting articles. I have a whole list of ideas on subjects that I would like to explore in more depth but creating them every week began to feel very heavy.  I wanted to reach out and give people useful information that they could use in their everyday lives to improve their family's lives or their own situations, but what I realized was that it seemed to take away from my family life.  How could I still write about compelling topics, but maintain a little-hearted feel?  I am not against heavy topics, but I spend hours on those subjects.  My goal is still to write these kinds of articles from time to time, but I want to blog with more heart and personality.  Maybe with more of a story or journeying style.

One thing that has been going through my mind is I want to really reach an audience that enjoys my art and my children's books.  I have been writing children's books for a long time without ever doing anything with them.  What is really strange is how the market is now booming with all kinds of new children's picture books from indie authors.  Many great stories from people with the same dream I have.  Now, the question I have to ask myself is how do I distinguish myself from other authors/ illustrators?  What is it about my stories and art that sets itself apart, and would be enjoyed by families and their kiddos?  This is a hard question, and one I have been asking myself again and again over the last few weeks.  What is my why?  What is it that an audience is going out of my work that brings joy and keeps people's interest?

What kind of articles would they like to read about?  What is it that I do that can improve the lives of others?  I am really looking for more of an organic connection with the audience I am trying to build.  I want to build a deeper relationship with readers and their families.

I plan on doing more research and looking at what it will take to build those deeper connections.  In what ways can I reach the right audience building a bridge between being a writer, artist, mother, and friend?  I will be looking into different methods, and really trying to see what all that means in the months to come.  Maybe that is a new blog, a podcast, or maybe a YouTube channel.  I plan on creating more coloring pages for families and maybe simple art lessons?  Fun ways to interact with new games?  We shall see and in the meanwhile, stay tuned and if you have any suggestions, I would love to hear them!

Looking forward to making friends and building deeper connections!  Ciao for now!
