Social Media Mishaps and Marketing Adventures

I have been listening to many different podcasts, and YouTube videos about engaging with this marketing beast called, Social Media.  I am a small fish in a deep dark void.  I open my mouth but only water is pulled in.  How do I scale up?  How do I shake off the dark shadows of the shallows, and venture into the blackness without being consumed?

These are some massive questions, I really have no clue how to answer, so I watch videos, listen to podcasts, and attempt to engage in this marketing adventure.  It is very similar to when I moved out on my own for the first time.  I moved back in with my mother SO MANY times.  I was lucky she didn’t want me to become homeless.  I was at one point because I refused to drop my pride, luckily, I figured it out.  Sink or Swim.  I’m much too old to live with mommy now, though I miss our interactions and conversations.

So here I am a little fish, who has jumped out off the landing a few times but has not left the safety of the shadows just yet.  I look around for some of the older wiser fish like Seth Godin or Gary Vee, and follow them around thinking I might get some of their wisdom to sprinkle onto me.  Seth talks about finding your smallest audience and answering the questions, “How can I serve them?” or “What is the pain point I can address for this group of people that aligns with my expertise?”  I like his point of view about engaging with your audience from organic leads and with a genuine interest in serving them with my knowledge.  Gary Vee talks about broadening your net to attract more leads but with a narrower twist.  As in look for people who have a need for your service, but don’t engage with just one audience.  He also talks about using all forms of social media to do this.  Gary talks about people becoming the masters of the creative process.

I can find a need for both concepts.  I am a scavenger by nature and like to pick and choose what works best for my operation.  I am a one-woman, Jackie-of-all-traits kind of gal because that is what my wallet will allow at this time.  Might I contract out at some point?  I am sure I will if I can bring my business to from a side hustle status.  So I plan on scaling up folks!  That’s right this fish is swimming into the void! GASP!!!  I am working on engaging in another podcast, but this time I am going to push to build it into more!  I am going to try and push it onto as many platforms as I can (totally Gary Vee energy), but I am going to try and find my tribe, my audience who has a need that my products can address ( here is looking at you Seth).  What is that you might be asking?  Well, I am a writer and an artist.  I have worked with children in many different environments.  I am also a photographer, and I am just starting my digital journey of learning how to use different programs.  I guess what you could say is that I am a storyteller.  I want to build written, verbal, and visual stories that are relevant to my tribe.  So here I go.  Stay tuned to my podcast and my YouTube channel, which will be out this spring.  If you have questions or just want to stay engaged with in this journey you can email me at altea.leah@gamil.com or become a part of my emailing list for my bi-monthly newsletter and special information about my book launches and podcasts:  https://dashboard.mailerlite.com/forms/1164652/137896290216314832/share .
